Mahou Beer Space

Insight

Madrid it is a very dual city. At the same time we see a Latin American identity we will find a European reality. We can simultaneously walk through a big institutional capital and a local environment with great neighborhood life character. A city that is associated to clear skies and sunny weather it is also associated to a lively nightlife. A city where a deep tradition and history coexists with an innovative way of life. In conclusion, it is a city full of contradictions that can be at the same time one thing and the opposite.

This Project shows this  contradictory and polar character of Madrid. A building with two facades, one of them classic and the other one  modern. A building where the interior spaces are at the same time exterior. A Project where the historical heritage coexists with modern architecture.

Idea

The main Project decision it is the full exterior image preservation. The main part of the work will consist in the creation of an interior space.

A fresh green environment can be appreciated by the facade openings. As soon as we access to the building, we will find a semi-public garden. This is the main space of the Project. It connects the external plaza to the museum. It is a link that gets the museum closer to the city life. This garden provides natural light to all the interior spaces. It is a transition space from modern facade to a classic one. The result of this transition it is a liquid space, a garden that flows, an area for relaxing and chilling out. It is a metaphor of role that Mahou beer plays in Madrid society.

The Project it is a dialogue between the past, present and future of Madrid. It is positioned in these three temporal spaces with equal firmness since it is impossible to talk about Madrid without talking about its past or its exciting future in a global world.

Description

Once inside, we will again find the original building. The exterior elements have been carved to create the garden but the interior ones have been fully preserved.
